Go Beyond Look-And-See
Throughout your trip, you'll dive into things you can taste, make, or take home with you. From cooking classes to artisan workshops to community visits, Unfiltered & Fed trips go far beyond a photo stop.
Come Solo, Leave With Friends
Around 70% of Unfiltered & Fed travelers come solo. We do roommate matching ahead of time around things like temperature preferences and noise sensitivity, so you're not walking in blind. Solo is the move and these trips make sure your plans don't get stuck in the group chat.
Moments of Luxury
Each property we stay at is carefully curated to blend luxury design, views, and location. We work exclusively with highly rated boutique properties and four and five-star hotels, chosen for the way they let you rest as hard as you explore.
True Local Flavor
Every Unfiltered & Fed itinerary is built after extensive on-the-ground research to make sure we're getting the best local flavors, meals, and experiences. You'll be guided by local experts who know the food, the history, and the culture in ways no guidebook can capture.
Dietary Restrictions
We can accommodate vegetarian travelers and most allergies or restricted diets throughout this trip. Please note any restrictions at checkout so we can coordinate with hotels, restaurants, and local partners in advance.
Deposits & Refunds
All deposits are non-refundable. In the case of cancellation:

75 to 50 days before departure: 50% of total trip cost is non-refundable

This trip moves at a thoughtful pace with time to rest, but we'll spend several days at higher altitudes. Cusco sits at 11,150 feet. Machu Picchu involves steep stone steps with no railings in places. If you have specific concerns, email us at contact@feedthemalik.com before booking.
Travel Insurance Is Required
We strongly recommend coverage that includes trip cancellation, curtailment, and emergency medical and repatriation (minimum $200,000 per category).

Today, you'll dive into Afro-Peruvian heritage in Lima, a thread of the city's history that's often overlooked in the standard tourist route.
You'll visit the Convento de Santo Domingo, home of Martín de Porres, the first Afro American saint in the Catholic Church. You'll see his cell and learn about a life lived inside the rigid racial hierarchies of colonial Lima, where his very existence was a quiet defiance of the social order.
Continue to the Museo Nacional Afroperuano, located in the historic Casa de las Trece Monedas on Jirón Ancash. The exhibitions trace the African slave trade in Latin America, the experience of enslavement in Peru, and the contributions Afro-Peruvians have made to the country's music, dance, and cuisine. Walk through the surrounding colonial streets as your guide brings the history into the present.
After the visit, enjoy lunch at El Rincón que no Conoces, a traditional restaurant known for its authentic Afro-Peruvian cuisine.
Finally, enjoy an to Afro-Peruvian culture through music and dance. Learn the basics of the cajón while exploring traditional rhythms such as festejo, landó, and zamacueca in a relaxed and interactive way. Afterward, you'll try your hand at a chocolate-making experience, learning about the process and creating your own truffles and bonbons to take with you.
The drive into the Sacred Valley is its own experience. Known as Wilcamayo in Inca times, this fertile valley has been an agricultural hub for over a thousand years, with fields of maize lining the river and ancient terraces still climbing the mountainsides.
You'll check into Tambo del Inka, a five-star resort right on the Urubamba River. Settle in. Adjust to the altitude. The valley is gentler on the body than Cusco itself, which is part of why we're starting here.
Inclusions:

Today, you'll dive deeper into the engineering and artistry of Inca civilization.
Enjoy a private guided trip to Maras Salt Ponds where salty springs have emerged from the hillside for over five hundred years. The Incas built a network of terraces to capture the flow and harvest salt, and families in the region still tend the ponds using the same methods. The result is a hillside of thousands of small white salt pans, layered against the Andes.
Continue the excursion to Moray, here massive circular terraces descend into a limestone sinkhole. Some scholars suggest the site had cosmological significance. The more practical theory is that the Incas used these terraces as an agricultural laboratory, taking advantage of the temperature variation across each level to test optimal growing conditions for crops at different altitudes. Either way, the visual is striking.
Later you will continue the tour visiting Hacienda Huayoccari, a traditional hacienda that reflects Cusco's colonial and pre-Columbian history.
After lunch, you will enjoy a hands-on ceramic workshop in the traditional Andean community of Chichubamba. Working alongside skilled local artisans, you'll shape your own piece on a traditional pottery wheel. Each guest also receives a pre-made ceramic piece to paint and decorate, which means no matter how the wheel-thrown experiment turns out, you'll leave with something real to take home.
Inclusions:
Breakfast at the hotel
Half Day Maras & Moray tour
Maras entrance ticket
Lunch at Hacienda Huayoccari
Ceramic workshop at Chichubamba Community
Accommodations at Tambo del Inka, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa
Today is one of the most special days of the trip. We'll head into the highlands above Ollantaytambo to spend the day with the Huilloq community, a village where you'd be hard-pressed to find another tourist.
The day starts with a weaving demonstration. The women of the community will show you the techniques they've used for generations, dyeing wool with plants and insects from the surrounding mountains and weaving textiles whose patterns hold meaning passed down through families.
Lunch is Pachamanca, an ancestral cooking method that involves marinating meats, potatoes, corn, and vegetables with Andean herbs, then slow-cooking them underground over hot stones. The food comes out smoky, tender, and unlike anything you've eaten elsewhere.
After, you will visit a traditional Chichería in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, where locals gather to enjoy chicha de jora. Learn about this ancestral drink, its preparation process, and its importance in Andean culture and daily life.
Finally, continue your journey to Ollantaytambo where you'll explore the town's archaeological site. The ruins of an Inca city rise above the present-day settlement, and the views from the top let you see how the architecture and the geography fit together as one continuous design.
Inclusions:
Breakfast at the hotel
Full Day tour Sacred Valley: Huilloc Community and Ollantaytambo, including Chicherí stop
Weaving Demonstration + Pachamanca Lunch at Huilloc Community
Accommodations at Tambo del Inka, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa
After breakfast, head to the local train station to board the train toward Aguas Calientes, the small town at the foot of the Machu Picchu sanctuary. The ride takes about an hour and forty-five minutes through one of the most beautiful train journeys in the world. The route descends along the Urubamba River, through the Sacred Valley, and into the cloud forest.
From Aguas Calientes, a short bus ride climbs the steep, zigzagging road up to the Lost City of the Incas.
There's no overstating what it feels like to see Machu Picchu in person. The site is perched high in the Andes, surrounded by verdant cloud forest, with the Urubamba River cutting through the gorge far below. Hidden away on a ridge, Machu Picchu is invisible from below. That's part of why it remained a secret to the outside world until 1911.
Your guide will lead you through the upper terraces first, where the iconic photograph happens, then through the ruins themselves. You'll learn about the temples, the houses, and the agricultural and ceremonial life of the Incas at the height of their empire.
After the guided tour, take the bus back into Aguas Calientes. The afternoon is yours to wander, eat, or rest before checking into the your hotel.
Inclusions:

After breakfast, you'll take the train back to Ollantaytambo through the same magnificent valley you traveled the day before, this time in reverse with the river to the other side.
Lunch is at Chuncho, a restaurant in Ollantaytambo run by farming families committed to preserving traditional recipes, ancestral flavors, and cooking techniques native to the area. The menu uses ingredients grown in the surrounding hills and prepared the way they've been prepared for centuries. A meal here lands differently after a few days in the Sacred Valley. You've seen the fields, met the people, and now you're eating the food of the place.
After lunch, transfer to Cusco and check into the Casa Andina Premium Cusco, a five-star hotel in the city's historic center. Cusco sits at over 11,000 feet, so plan to take it slow this evening. Hydrate. Walk slowly. Coca tea is your friend.

This morning, head to the Temple of the Moon, located on the outskirts of Cusco and traditionally associated with the worship of Mama Killa (the Moon Goddess).
Here, enjoy a peaceful yoga session among the temple’s ancient stone formations, guided by a skilled instructor. Practicing in this sacred setting makes for a truly special experience, far from a typical yoga class. Afterward, you may return to the hotel by vehicle, or, if you prefer, take an easy downhill walk back toward the city.
In the afternoon, you will learn more about Peruvians (and Peruvian food!) with a cooking class that will teach you to prepare traditional recipes handed down over generations. You’ll stop at a local market to discover some Peruvian treasures. Explore a huge variety of fruits, vegetables, and fiery spices, and maybe make a purchase or two.
Next, you’ll head to the studio where you will have a practical class and will learn to prepare dishes guided by our Peruvian professional chef.
